 ~~~~~~SWIM MEET~~~~~~
The annual swim meet will be at the Maverick Club on November 25, starting at 7:30 pm. All parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and friends are invited to attend and support the scouts. Trophies will be handed to individual winners.
^^^^^HIKE,HIKE,HIKE^^^^
Into the mountains of the Pecos Wilderness went the hardy few. Brave souls one and all, etc. Actually, the hike to Stewart Lake was once again a grand adventure, with the sights being out of this world. But, only to be experienced after a long haul into the hills. Everyone returned safely once again and Mr. Johnson made it one more time at the young age of 69.
<CARLSBAD ADVENTURES Scouts and leaders ventured into the dark and awesome sights of God’s creation at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Some photos are already done (the digital ones) and others should be available soon. The breakfast crew of Woods and Fithen turned out a superb “Omelets to order” again. We are all getting spoiled. The scouts swam with the fish and then played softball, with Louie Lincoln’s team coming out on top, with a little help from a local player. Once again James Spencer got shafted (or so he says), He just needed Brent Klein to complete the scene. Early church in the dark was followed by a quick return home. All are looking forward to doing the trip again.
HONOR AND DUTY.
A scout pledges his honor to do his duty. In present day America, both personal honor performance of duty are often neglected and even ridiculed. Boy Scouts attempts to teach young men that these traditional values are still true and important in their personal lives. We congratulate the parents who think enough of these values to keep their kids in scouts and who support their kids in the often hard road to putting these values to practice. Keep up the good work!!
