^^^^HAPPY BIRTHDAY^^^^

Matt Franklin 2, Matt Hite 12, Philip Kolodziej 12, Barrett Thorne 14, Jonathan Desimone 16, Christopher Corley 21, Barry Gilbert 21, and Brent Klein 21.

POPCORN SALES START in October this year. Scouts earn 30% of sales to use for camp fees, uniforms, or equipment. Selling is optional, but very helpful to mom and dad’s pocket book.

PINK IS BACK Pink T-shirts for moms in Troop 80 are again on sale after being gone for years. If you can’t live without one, see Annette Walker.

RED SWEATSHIRTS also make a comeback. Red sweatshirts, with and without hoods, are being ordered. Great for working the tree lot. These were last sold in the 80's, so the retro look is in. P.S. These are not substitutes for the black Troop 80 sweat shirt.

WILDERNESS 2003 Only 11 months away till next wilderness. Don’t make the mistake that some scouts made last year and cost yourself a great trip. Advance one rank and attend 25 meetings also and qualify yourself for the best trip of the year. July 19-26, 2003.

^^^BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS^^^

Going back to Stewart Lake in the Pecos Wilderness September 20-22. Cost $15.00. 11 year old scouts will stay at Cowles and do day hikes. Unbelievable scenery with the Aspens turning colors.

HIKING MERIT BADGE is being offered by Rodney Crnes and John Standish. Will do 5 ten mile hikes and 1 twenty mile hike. Not for the faint at heart.

FIRE SAFETY MERIT BADGE (formerly Firemanship) class is being started by Rodney Carnes. Talk with him if interested

OLD UNIFORMS. Always need old uniforms, including socks, belts, neckerchiefs, sweatshirts, hats, and t–shirts. Turn in Tuesday nights. Also need hiking boots, and old camping gear. Tax deductible if you paid for it (that is, did not get it from the closet).

<<<<<<TREE LOT TIME>>>>>>>

Sign up now to get the best shifts. Each parent is asked to help on tree lot by working 3 shifts. Great fun and fellowship and helps pay for the program. Troop 80 actually teaches and puts into practice work ethic and the doctrine that there is no free lunch. Many people talk traditional values, but we put it into practice and have your sons make their own money. Thanks in advance for your support.

FALL PROGRAM should be exciting., with trips planned to Canoncita (formerly Gilvin Ranch) and Lake Altus for October and November. There may also be Venture climbing trip to the Wichita Mountains.

******PARENTS NEEDED*********

There are about 119 merit badges. We need moms and dads to sign up as counselors for merit badges they would teach. May not counsel own son unless you teach a class and he is in it. Really need help with Citizenship merit badges. If you are a professional or teacher in an area that covers such topics, this would be a natural for you.

4TH ANNUAL REUNION WEEKEND SUCCESS.. Parents, scouts, webelos and family members all went down to Camp Don Harrington this past August and stuffed on the Kiefer, et al., BBQ and bens. Great food. Many thanks to Steve Tunnel, Blake Klein and others for running archery and rifle ranges. BC, JC, and ML got a little engineering work in on Sunday. Swimming, but no canoeing again (pond was dry), was a nice break from the heat. Old scouts from as far back as the 60's showed up. Can’t wait till next year.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCORES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duty, Honor, Courage Award starts. These are the final posted scores for Outstanding Patrol. C1 and D1 will fight it out for DHC honors. The other three patrols will fight it out for the Outstanding Patrol Plaque, to be announced at Christmas Banquet.
