VOL 19 NUM 4

Sneed Ranch Weekend. The scouts and adult leaders went back to Sneed Ranch after a two year hiatus (remember the Wichita!). Gary Wood, John Cooksey, and Steve Filipowicz cranked out a great roast pig feast for Saturday night. No one got lost hiking in (Matt Hite was not on the trip). Bridge got re-engineered, or at least a lot of engineers worked on it. David Solis (Eagle 1976, SPL 1977) came out of retirement to bring the Sunday message. Brandon Naylor rolled his jeep on the way to camp with Brent Naylor in the passenger seat. Both are okay. Aaron Amos zipped down the line too fast. He just wanted to be in the newsletter again. Bus had to switched out. Driving in fog late at night ( no scouts on board) was “interesting.” And there was a mini-Camporee. The Iroquois Patrol wins it all, with the Aztecs in second, Apache third, Wichita fourth ( the dreaded pink ribbon), and Sioux fifth. Kitchen crew whipped up some mean omelets on Sunday. Carl Johnson hiked out of camp and got picked up on highway, this time by design. Drivers beware. Maybe next month will be a little more boring ( but then what would go in the newsletter?).

??????WHERE'S GLASCO??????

Duane Glasco has now hiked 700 miles on the Appalachian Trail and is approaching Harpers Ferry, Virginia (of Civil War Fame), in late April. He will decide then whether to finish or not.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DRIVERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After being behind the wheel for only fifteen minutes, the Z man, on the way to the building, took out an old couple who had the audacity to drive on their side of the road. He knows no fear (except of his mom) and will drive again. Actually, we are just glad no one got hurt.

LET'S PLAN AHEAD

Think of Troop 80 and designate you United Way donations to the Troop. You must request a special form to designate Eighty Scouts, Inc. (our sponsor, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Your employer will not have the form. This change in rules cost us over $6,000.00 in donations this year. Nice, huh? More in later issues.

Over the Edge at Haynes. 32 scouts and a group of hangers on went to the scout camp at Haynes during March and had a great time rappelling. The wind blew a little Saturday night. Just ask the scoutmaster who was sleeping under it when it fell. HAD A JASM try out a new menu item. Heard it was kind of hard to digest. No one got lost coming in. No one got left behind, so seems like that was a good camp.
