A Scout is Helpful.

Troop 80 rebuilt the nature trail at Quartz Mountain State Park for its service project to help the Park Rangers (and to pay some of its camping fees).  Troop 80 helped build part of this trail in the late 1990's.  Trail work included installing railroad tie walls to keep the creek from cutting into the trail and rebuilding bridge supports, and repairing damage caused by erosion.

The scouts and leaders look forward each year to rappelling and climbing at Baldy Point.  This area was acquired for the Quartz Mountain State Park by the Access Fund.

The camp area is a great place to relax at the end of the camping season.  The Troop sets up kitchen in a shelter, and scouts and leaders can just hang out there whenever they want.  The area is in full autumn color while the Troop is there, giving the scouts a view of wildlife much different from that found in most of the Panhandle.
